Teawood Mega Box

A Symbol of Joy and Magical Memory

The inspiration for the design came from the location of the restaurant in a family mall called Mega Box. The aim was to create a space that would bring delight and magical memories to everyone who visited. The concept of a gift box was chosen to symbolize joy and express the core values of family. The restaurant's name, Teawood, further enhances the concept, as tea is often associated with warmth, comfort, and togetherness.

One of the unique features of the Teawood Mega Box is the design of the columns. To address the challenge of the restaurant's irregular shape and proportions, the upper part of the columns was transformed into piano keys. This not only adds a playful touch but also helps to dilute the height and create a more harmonious atmosphere. Additionally, different-sized gift boxes are hung from the ceiling, further enhancing the joyful ambiance and adding visual interest to the space.

The realization of the design involved the use of wood as the main material. Delicate strips were added to the grand entrance wall and some of the interior walls, resembling the wrapping paper of a gift box. This special treatment elevates the ordinary timber and adds a touch of elegance to the overall design.

Upon entering the Teawood Mega Box, diners are greeted by a grand entrance wall and a display of freshly baked breads on a beautiful wooden shelf. The dining area, located on the right, features a tall ceiling adorned with numerous gift boxes. When sunlight shines through the windows, the metallic boxes create a fantastic reflection, adding to the joyful ambiance of the space.

The design of the Teawood Mega Box was based on qualitative research, which involved understanding the dining habits in the district and studying the strategies of competitors. The result of this research revealed that most table settings should accommodate 4 to 6 seats, and the color tone should be family-friendly. The design successfully incorporates these insights, making the restaurant appealing to customers of all ages.

The Teawood Mega Box project was completed in 2016 and has since garnered recognition for its innovative design. It was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category in 2018. This prestigious award recognizes designs that demonstrate creativity, resourcefulness, and a commitment to improving the quality of life.

The Teawood Mega Box restaurant, with its unique design inspired by gift boxes, is a testament to the power of art, architecture, and design to create memorable experiences. It successfully combines the elements of art, architecture, design, innovation, and technology to provide a harmonious and joyful dining environment for families.
